As I had already recorded in my Despatch Nr. 186 to Your Lordships my 12th January, considering it made it able to alter existing arrangements, I took the liberty of furnishing Commodore with a copy of that Despatch, and as I feel it is desirable that a record should be found in the Colonial Office of all such correspondence I have
the honour to transmit copy of my communication to Commodore of the 26th Instant.
I may add although it was supposed on the day when the last Mail left here, the 18th instant, that the "Naughty", gunboat, had brought in a vessel, captured Pirates and by item subsequently abandoned there are sufficient grounds for supposing the information correct on which the proceedings of the "Naughty" were taken.
Enclosure 2. I request Your Lordship will also observe enclosed letter to the Commodore, that Officer to be supplied with certified copies of the proceedings of Her Majesty's Cruiser in all Piracy cases, so as to furnish accurate information to Your Lordship's Department.
I am happy to say some months a return of Piracy in this neighbourhood would be nil. I have the honour to be Your Lordships Most obedient servant,
Richard Graves MacDonnell
Governor
